What are dental implants?
Implants are artificial replacements for missing teeth. These are fixed replacements and cannot be removed by the patient. The implant replacement therapy generally works in two phases. In the first phase of treatment, a titanium screw is placed within the bone in the missing tooth area. This is allowed to heal for upto 6 months. Healing phase is the period of ‘Osseointegration” ( The implant has to fuse with the surrounding bone ). In the second phase of therapy, a crown or the tooth structure is placed to complete the procedure.
